Google AdSense and the importance of monitoring

Google AdSense can of course be a great way to make money for your
web site with very little effort on your part. Even though using
Google AdSense may seem easy, however, it is not as easy as it
seems at first blush. It is important to remember that there is
lots of competition out there, and keeping ahead of that
competition means constantly keeping track of what works and what
does not on the internet.

Reporting and monitoring is an essential part of the Google AdSense
process, and Google has in fact built in a number of great
reporting and monitoring features to provide their members with the
information they need to maximize their profit potential.

Among the statistics that the built in Google AdSense monitoring
system includes are:

- The total number of page impressions
- The number of ads clicked
- The rate at which those ads are clicked through
- The cost per click (CPC) and the cost of 1000 impressions (CPM)
- Your total earnings

This information is of course very valuable, but it may not tell
the entire story for many web site owners. Fortunately there are a
number of third party software products that are able to provide
additional information not covered by the basic Google AdSense
reporting. Among the information many of these third party
products provide are the click through rates for every page of the
web site, keyword reports and real time reporting.

This real time reporting can be very important, since the reporting
provided by Google can be delayed for 48 hou
